Many people don’t need a reason to celebrate National Donut day, however, did you know that there is in fact a history behind this amazing day. Dating all the way back to the first world war, a doctor in the military went out of his way to brighten the day of the wounded soldiers he worked on by providing them with doughnuts. After this, a fundraiser was born, to help in continuing to provide doughnuts to the soldiers. After many years, the tradition still stands today with funds being raised and sent to the salvation army.
